John Chuck, M.D., is a board-certified family physician, chief wellness officer, and medical school professor who draws on over thirty years of patient care, teaching, and leadership experience to help people find solutions to complex problems related to wellness, joy, and meaning. He does this by being a generous listener, providing informed perspectives, and offering reality-based hope and encouragement. In his roles as a thought partner, facilitator, and keynote speaker, Dr. Chuck uses storytelling and humor to make an intellectual and emotional connection with his audience. He is available to work with individuals and groups.
John is a graduate of U.C. Berkeley, the UCLA School of Medicine, and the Family & Community Medicine residency program at the UC Davis Medical Center. For over three decades, he was a primary care physician with The Permanente Medical Group (TPMG), the nation’s largest physician-led multispecialty group practice comprised of ten thousand physicians caring for 4.5 million patients. He also served as the Chief of Health Promotion and Information Technology Innovation and the Chief of Physician Health & Wellness for Kaiser Permanente in the Sacramento/Roseville area, chaired TPMG’s Regional Physician Health & Wellness Leaders Group, and achieved the rank of Clinical Professor at the UC Davis School of Medicine. In 2020, he retired from TPMG and joined the faculty at California Northstate University where he is the Chief Wellness Officer and Professor of Family Medicine.
